Privacy on this site

The short version: a static review that collects almost nothing, and says so in full on this page.

The Equipment Room is a static website. It does not run a content management system, a user database, an account system, or a comment engine. It serves HTML, CSS, images, and a small amount of JavaScript. Because of this, there is very little to say about data collection, which is itself the point.

What is not collected. This site does not set tracking cookies. It does not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any other third-party analytics service. It does not embed social media widgets that report your visit back to another platform. It does not serve targeted advertising. It does not fingerprint your browser or attempt to identify you across sessions.

What may be collected. If you send an email to the address listed on the contact page, the content of that email is retained so that the question or correction can be addressed. It is not shared with any third party. If you visit the site, the hosting provider may log standard server information, your IP address, the page requested, the time of the request, and the browser used. This logging is a function of the hosting infrastructure and is not controlled by the journal. The logs are not analysed for marketing purposes and are not shared with advertisers.

Cookies. The site does not set cookies of its own. If essential technical cookies are required by the hosting platform, for instance, a session cookie to maintain a connection, they are limited to what the platform needs to function and are not used for tracking or advertising.

Third-party content. The site may link to external pages. Once you leave this site, the privacy practices of the destination apply. The Equipment Room is not responsible for the data practices of other sites, and it does not share any visitor information with them.

Your rights under GDPR. If you are located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have the right to request access to any personal data this site holds about you, to request its correction or deletion, and to object to its processing. Given that this site collects almost no personal data, the practical scope of these rights is narrow, but they exist, and any request will be taken seriously. To exercise them, write to the contact address on this site.

Data transfers. The site is hosted on infrastructure that may be located outside your country of residence. Any data collected by the hosting provider is subject to that provider's privacy policy. The journal itself does not transfer personal data to third countries.

Changes to this notice. If the site's data practices change, for instance, if a comment system or newsletter is added in the future, this page will be updated before the change takes effect, and the date at the foot of the page will be revised.
