What is sponsored, and where it sits

If money moved it, the label says so. Sponsored material lives outside the aisles, never dressed as an entry.

The Equipment Room carries no sponsored content at present. If that changes, the rules on this page will apply without exception.

Disclosure. Anything paid for, subsidised, or placed in exchange for any form of compensation, money, product, hospitality, or any other benefit, will be clearly labelled as sponsored. The label will appear at the top of the item, before the reader encounters any content. It will not be buried in a footer, hidden in small type, or phrased in a way that obscures its meaning. The word "sponsored" or "advertisement" will be used, not euphemisms such as "in partnership with" or "brought to you by."

Separation from the aisles. Sponsored material will never appear inside the aisles. It will not be formatted to look like an entry of the review. It will not sit alongside or be interleaved with editorial content in a way that could lead a reader to mistake it for an independent assessment. Sponsored items live in a clearly marked section of their own, outside the review proper.

What the site will accept. If the journal ever accepts sponsored content, it will only accept material that is relevant to golfers and that meets a basic standard of honesty. The sponsor may not dictate the wording. The journal's writers will produce or approve all text, and the sponsor will not have copy approval before publication.

What the site will not accept. The Equipment Room will not accept sponsored content that mimics an editorial review. It will not accept product launches dressed as independent coverage. It will not accept content from brands it has reviewed where the sponsorship could be read as influencing the verdict. And it will not accept any arrangement where sponsorship is tied to a positive editorial assessment of the sponsor's products.

The current state. As of this writing, the journal is entirely free of sponsored content. The aisles contain only editorial entries written without commercial influence. If that position changes, this page will be updated immediately, and every sponsored item will carry the disclosure described above.
